If you are fairly new to vehicle maintenance, you may have heard the phrase “tire balancing” a couple of times. Tire balancing is an important task to keep your Honda running smoothly and to get the most use out of your tires. Let us explain what exactly is tire balancing and how often it should be done.
What is Tire Balancing?
When you add a new set of tires to your Honda, they should all weigh the same. As they wear down over time, they lose that initial weight. And because tires wear down differently, they will no longer weigh the same and become unbalanced. One of the most common symptoms of unbalanced tires is vehicle vibration and if left untreated, they can eventually ruin your suspension.
How are Tires Rebalanced?
To get the most use out of the set of tires, weighted clips are utilized to keep them balanced. More clips may be added until it is time to replace the tires after a long and healthy life.
How Often Should I Get My Tires Balanced?
Here at White's Honda , we recommend getting your tires weighed every 5,000 to 7,500 miles or every two years. We also advise you to verify the frequency in your Honda vehicle owner’s manual. And keep a lookout for any strange vibrations. If you happen to notice anything peculiar, please schedule a maintenance appointment with the White's Honda service department!
