In the red-hot compact SUV market, the Honda CR-V is undoubtedly one of the most sought-after and popular SUVs to choose from. A vehicle that has constantly been competing with its counterparts for over two decades, the CR-V has made a name for itself for its long-standing reliability and impressive build quality. Not to forget its pocket-friendly price approach making it a lot more accessible for the mass market. That said, the CR-V goes against other potential competitors with the Volkswagen Tiguan being one of them. Let’s see what puts the CR-V ahead of the Tiguan.
The 2022 CR-V is available in five trims – LX, Special Edition, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The 2022 model year version of the CR-V is a carryover of the previous model year, as the CR-V will receive a major facelift for the 2023 model year version. Interested in the 2022 Honda CR-V? The Honda CR-V is noticeably more powerful than the Tiguan in the horsepower department. The Tiguan does take the lead in the torque output figures. However, the CR-V’s overall power output is a lot more refined thanks to its lower power-to-weight ratio compared to the 2022 Tiguan making the CR-V a more interesting option. Not to forget its slightly higher ground clearance and better MPG figures making the CR-V a clear winner in this department.
Coming to the interior, the CR-V offers a spacious cabin with ample space for all the occupants. The seats are cozy and comfortable for long drives. The CR-V also offers a lot of storage spaces around the cabin making it a lot more practical. The Tiguan does offer three-row seating with a seven-passenger capacity. But the third-row seat space is cramped is not practical enough to be considered as value addition. The CR-V comes with cloth upholstery in the base trim which upgraded to leather upholstered seats with heated & ventilated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-wrapped shift knob, Automatic-Dimming Rearview mirror, HomeLink® Remote System, and Ambient Lighting, to name some of them.
One thing that the CR-V falls behind is in the infotainment system aspect, where the Tiguan offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all the trims, while the CR-V gets it on all but the base trim. But other than that, the CR-V’s other trims get an array of features Bluetooth Connectivity, Bluetooth Connectivity, Pandora® Compatibility, Radio Data System (RDS), Speed-Sensitive Volume Compensation (SVC), Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM®, HD Radio™, and a seven-inch touchscreen display.
There is no doubt that the CR-V offers a lot more safety features compared to the Tiguan. This makes the CR-V a well-rounded SUV in all aspects.
