Honda has developed a trend of reviving old, exciting nameplates to introduce new modern vehicles. It started with the HR-V and was followed up by the Insight and Passport for the 2019 model year. While the Insight is a compact hybrid sedan, the Honda Passport is a midsize crossover utility vehicle with a penchant for off-road adventure. For the 2021 model year, the Honda Passport has added a few standard features before going on sale here in Lima OH. While the young SUV didn’t need too many changes for its third year as a vehicle, Honda has added even more value by standardizing a handful of features and technologies.
Regardless of trim level, the Honda Passport will now come standard with the display audio system that features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The Passport will be available in four different trim levels, each of which – with the exception of the top-of-the-line Elite trim level – are available with either a two-wheel drive or all-wheel drive system. The Elite is standard with the AWD system and doesn’t offer a 2WD option.
The Passport crossover’s 3.5L V6 engine is capable of generating 280 horsepower alongside 262 pound-feet of torque, which means it has plenty of performance to offer. Combined with an Intelligent Traction Management system, four-wheel independent suspension and torque-vectoring technology in the AWD system, the Passport is able to tackle almost any terrain, making it one of the best options for off-roading on the Honda lineup. Accessories like the available Adventure Package will make these adventures even more viable.
Power and off-road capabilities are just a couple of aspects of the Honda Passport, of course. While it has plenty of performance and capability to offer, it’s also a Honda utility vehicle. That means it’s packed with great content, versatile space, and much more to deliver an enjoyable experience each time you hit the road.
