The Honda CR-V has been a very popular member of the compact crossover segment for nearly three decades. In one of the most competitive segments on the market, that’s no easy feat. Today we wanted to see how well the 2021 Honda CR-V measures up to one of those fierce competitors, so we’ve decided to pit it against the Subaru Forester. The Forester was introduced just two years after the CR-V, which made its debut in 1995. So, they’ve been competing pretty much since the beginning. But how do they fare this year?

In the table above we highlighted some of the best options to consider when shopping for a compact crossover, and it quickly becomes apparent why these two vehicles make such great competitors. They’re incredibly comparable to one another, with advantages being small where they exist. However, it’s also easy to see which vehicle gets the nod.
We started off looking at horsepower in the first row, in which the CR-V deliver 8 more than the Forester. That’s not a big advantage, nor is the extra mile per gallon the CR-V gets combined across highway and city driving. However, the CR-V does deliver one sizeable advantage, and it’s in the form of how much space the crossover has to offer behind its rear seats. An extra 8.1 cubic feet of space is a pretty big difference and should accommodate an extra suitcase or something similar.
Of course, both vehicles offer seating for up to 5, as evidenced in the final row. If you think you might be interested in a 2021 Honda CR-V of your own, be sure to reach out to us right here at White’s Honda today!
